I just bought some jbl door speakers for my 06 crew cab sport. I bought 6x9 for the front and 6.5 for the back. I have heard you need to buy a speaker install kit because the wont fit with out it is that true?

Yes, you need adapters. I suppose you could mount the speakers directly to the doors, but then you risk bending the speakers' frames and in turn, damaging your brand new speakers. So yes, get them.

I've never purchased anything from Mr Marv, but everyone else on TacomaWorld seems to love his work. So you're probably best off getting some from him. Go here for his contact info. I don't think he has a website, but I could be wrong.

I think you should be fine. I swapped JBL speakers into my truck with out any extra mods. They bolted straight up
