2nd gen here. As I remember: Remove the bolts that hold the grab handle. The A pillar cover should "unsnap". Run wire as appropriate. Caution. I don't remember if my A pillar has air bags. The VW does.

Umm, setting off an airbag probably would be bad. I just cleaned inside.
I better chack the manual on that.
    Thanks

Most people run the mic on the back edge of the sun visor; works for me! The front edge of the headliner easily conceals wires.

And I REALLY think it’s a stretch to think a 1st Gen Taco would have anything other than the one in the steering wheel & dash.

The white cloth roll in the background is the curtain airbag. It extends down the A pillar. Again this is a 2nd gen.

@CB900F You don't have to worry about the air bags. @rnish is showing you pictures of a second gen- the first gens only have driver and passenger airs, no pillar, door curtain, etc...

The only thing to be weary of, those screws holding the oh shit handle on, are JIS, and they are TIGHT. You will almost certainly strip them if you use a regular phillips driver on them. Plenty of info on removing the pillar trim if you search.

Ah yes, the JIS! I learned about that with my Honda motorcycles.
    Thanks

    Solved.
Yes, the headliner stuffing was easy.
From there, I took 2 plastic interior tools and opened up the top of the A-pillar just enough to get the wire in there.
From there, it should route under the weatherstripping, then out to under the dash.

    Thanks

For mine (2002) the grab handle bolts are both JIS with a 10mm head around it. Definitely use the socket wrench on them. I've taken those pillars off about 5-6 times, just the 2 tight clips that are kind of annoying. You *might* want to tape the mic wire to the bundle of wires that run up the pillar so it doesn't rattle against the trim and annoy you.
