Even with different ratios in the front and rear, immediate single wheel lock up in 4wd doesn't make any sense. (it would eventually bind, think about driving a tight circle in 4wd. Something will need to slip, but wouldn't lock up a single tire) The problem most likely is in the carrier/spider/side gears.

maybe somethings stuck, get going at a good clip and toss it in 4wd.

Following along to see what happens.

Even when in 2WD, all of the front components still spin. They are separated left from right at the ADD, and separated from the rest of the drive train at the T-case. But without manual hubs everything still spins..

Not sure what could suddenly cause the pass wheel to lockup like that. Maybe something in the ADD is binding..? like I said will be interested to hear the outcome

Looks like 2nd gen 4x4s are all 3.73 unless it's a reg cab with 4.10s

If it is a gear ratio issue with the OPs truck then it's likely the PO regeared the rear, or he picked up a reg cab 4.10 diff? The latter seems less likely but possible I guess

edit - never mind there's also 3.58 option, didn't read the chart fully lol

The ring gear doesn't spin in 2wd, only the spiders. If there is a busted R&P gear, that will cause it to bind in 4wd but not 2wd

agreed, but doesn't (necessarily) explain the pass side only binding up.

If OP was trying this test with the drivers side wheel on the ground it would, didn't hear how the check of the binding occured (jacked whole front end up or just the passenger side?)

I understood that he was just trying to drive forward in 4wd when the passenger side only binding occurred.

That's correct, I didn't notice for a bit because it was so slushy out, but noticed something was f*cked when I tried to turn

so everything was fine until you went to turn? This literally just sounds like binding on pavement.

What... now I'm confused. That sounds like completely normal operation.

    hmm ok
what I would say is put truck up on a lift, try again. To me sounds like 4wd binding caused by engaging the system on a high traction terrain, which is expected

Yea, I'm starting to think this may be just good old fashioned driveline bind - which would be completely normal.

Yes both ways, I'm saying I noticed when I turned because my front end was pushing so bad on corners I couldn't even make any turns under unless I was going 5 or under. And like said on pavement the wheel will it move at all no matter what
