I have a 2017 OR and thought the transmission fluid was low. Stupid me overfilled it. I removed the overflow (check) plug on the pan and drained out pretty much what I put in. Is the transmission full now? I just want to make sure and not destroy my transmission. Thanks

Was the temp of the transmission hot when you reopened it?
Is has to be in a certain temp range when you check it.

Take it to Toyota and have them check it. You can do it on your own, but the process is lengthy and can be done without the techstream. It's a matter if setting the PCM into a diagnostic mode with a series of shifter positions going back/ forth and getting the trans fluid up to specified temp with engine running, but not to normal driving temps. There's threads on this with the TIS service manual explaining it in detail. Need to find the one that applies to your transmission too!
From the way you've explained your method, I would highly suggest you take it into the dealer.

It was maybe warm when I drained it the first time. That's when I got out what I had put in it. I drove it down the road about 2 miles and drained it again and got just a little out.

The fluid expands when it is hot.

You'll be fine, the overfill plug is just that, as long as you were under 40 degrees C it didn't evacuate critical fluid.

That said it needs to be adjusted properly using a scan tool.

A scan tool for checking trans fluid?
You mean getting it into temp mode, right?
A scan tool doesnt check your trans fluid level.

Toyota has made it clear they want all trans checked with the high temp tool. It's double the D blinking light temps. You need a ATM temp tool.

It's 95-113*F if it's warm and you can hold your hand on the case; it's not too hot.
