Hello. When it comes to wheels and tires I get lost trying to find a setup that works and fits.

On my 3rd gen I installed 6112/5160 with ome medium duty leaf pack. In addition I have installed the JBA uca's.

I need to replace my tires soon and I was planning to keep the stock off road wheels.

My original plan was to go with a 285/75/16, but I fear I will have to cut and chop too much to avoid rubbing.

I was thinking of going with 255/85/16, but according to JBA they won't fit and that I need to go with 31.7 or smaller tire. JBA recommends 265/75R16 ton factory wheels. If I want to keep stock wheels, can I run a spacer to make it work? If so, how do I determine what size spacer to go with?

Otherwise, JBA recommends with a 255/85/16 that I go with a 16 x 8 wheel, -12mm offset. I have my eye on Ray 10's for that, but I found some Level 8 MK6 I like, but they only in a -10mm offset. Can I use a -10mm and still get away with it?

    Thanks for all the help

there's a huge thread on here of people using 265/75r16 on the factory wheels. it's a popular size so you'll have tons of choices that aren't stupid expensive like other up sizes.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't work, I have JBAs as well... Maybe the JBAs stick out farther than the stock arms. I'm on 305/70R16s with -12 offset Ray10s though.

If you decide to go with spacers the only two brands I trust are Spidertrax and Bora. Don't skimp on wheel spacers unless you want your wheel coming off on the freeway haha. Also, I used red loctite to make sure mine stayed on when I had 1" Bora spacers.

As far as the -10 offset, as long as you're still looking at a 16x8 wheel it will make no difference. That's only a 2mm difference between the two wheels, so get what you like! The best offset for our trucks though seems to be 0 offset, and probably what I'd go with if you aren't hard set on SCS wheels. Less rubbing = less trimming, and possibly not hitting the cab mount.

    Good luck with the search!

My 2cents; If you want an aftermarket wheel for looks then get the TRD 17" they will use your lug nuts and sensors plus they have a bit of offset so you can run upsized tires. For offroading stick with the stocks using a good 265/75r16 tire like a ko2. That way you can get an idea if you want larger tires more lift mud tires all of that stuff...

FYI an 8" wide wheel will be outside the specs for a 255 tire, IIRC, but I'm sure lots of people do it. I have yet to find aftermarket 16x7 wheels for our trucks. I will be keeping my stockers regardless of which tire I ever have. On my 2006 sport, I went to 17x9s with 265/70's then to 17x8s countersteers (4.1bs, -10 offset) and had to trim the fender flares to clear the 31.7's. That's why I don't care for non-factory wheels anymore.

I had 5100's at about 2.25" lift. I had to remove the front mudflaps and trim a lot of the fender flare out.
