Transmission just replaced by a Toyota dealership. Price is over KBB value for retail. But I also know tacos are tough to come by in this price range... asking price is $19k on a 187k mile 2011. Double cab 4WD TRD Sport

    Personally, no.

Do you have experience with rebuilt trucks and cars? Sometimes they can have ill-shutting doors and little clicks and whistles when you drive. I would look over it throughly, check the doors, hood, etc. As for the tranny, i wouldnt even worry about that. If toyota replaced it, it should be installed correctly. Good luck!

Not surprised the trans went south bad ideal to change high millage fluid but there seems to be a lot of issues with this ride. If I could get 20 grand for my 2011 I might think about selling it considering I only paid 24 for it.

    Pass.....price is very high.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the tranny. Although, I'd be asking several follow up questions about the replacement.

The multiple impact damage.........too many possible problems.

Keep looking. Better condition trucks exist.

It always amazes me, these threads. People asking if they should plonk new car money (or almost-new car money) down on some old turds wrapped in a coat of simoniz.

I'm jealous, in a way. I never had the money to toss out the window like that.

Took me a couple months prowling dealerships, ads.......

Found my '06 Access Cab, V6, AT, 4WD with 105,000 miles at a dealer. They were asking $16,600. I had cash in hand. Countered with $15,000. We settled at $15,300. I had run the CarFax before I went to the dealer, all was clean.

I had to move quickly, because I missed 3 others by just a few hours. This truck was still in the detail shop. I had to wait for them to finish the detail before I could test drive it.

My point, get your $$ in hand. Be ready to move quickly. Do your homework FIRST. Last point. Don't be afraid to walk away.

Taco prices are stupid high in the NW right now. At least $5k above pre-covid. If you can wait a year I think there might actually be good deals out there. Need Toyota factories to start cranking out again...

That’s the problem I’m running in to...evvvvery taco out there is over BB right now. And you’re right, on average about $5k over!

Keep looking at Cars.com, it took me several months of looking before the combo I wanted came through at a price I was happy with and didn’t sell before I got there.

This is the best approach. I had casually looked for a few weeks before finding mine, drove there and it was still on the lift getting the Certified inspection but I gave a refundable deposit and came back the next day to drive it. I did like it when I took it for a ride and they'd already approved me for the loan the day before conditionally and agreed on a price for my old truck, so I went back the 3rd time first thing in the AM and picked it up.
