Help!! Please!! Realistic Towing Capability 22’ Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab V6 Automatic 4x4

You’re about right on dates. I believe when they switched to all the trd models having the equipment but not necessarily listing it as a tow package, is when they removed the extra transmission cooler. They now only have the one integrated into the radiator housing. No separate standalone cooler.

 

Good morning Curveball30 , Yes Indeed , my Tacoma has the transmission cooler located directly in front of the radiator! It looks just like the radiator but slightly smaller with identical fins and the hoses below that carries the coolant to the transmission. So , with that being a FACT if I add the weight distribution hitch and add some air bags for the suspension what is your opinion as to whether my Tacoma can adequately tow a 4,485lb Gross Vehicle Weight travel trailer!! If you want to look at the trailer it’s the Forest River Flagstaff EPro E19FDS !! Thanks..

 

Good morning RushT , I just checked my Tacoma and it has the smaller radiator located directly in front of the Radiator for the engine. There are also hose lines below that carry the coolant to the transmission!! So I’m good to go there!! Thanks for your help!!

 

I've used my TRDOR to tow a 3,400 lb. trailer with another, maybe 100 lb. of stuff in it. It tows it just fine for the few trips that I take every summer. I towed it from WA to both Park City UT and way up in Revelstoke, BC without any issues. I think you should be fine, although it will be a bit slow going over any mountains.
