Yep, and if you ever get rid of the truck, you'll need to explain why the doors were repainted.

Considering I've had the truck for all of one day, the stains are pretty bad, regardless of how big they are. I makes me sick to pay $40k for a blemished vehicle and i'd like it to look new for longer than a day. I don't know what to do....

I really find it hard to believe that was caused by tire shine. Either way good luck OP. Call the dealer and show them. The longer you wait the thinner your chances it will be resolved by dealer.

Edit: I guess tire shine can stain some white paints. Seems all different vehicle types can run into this issue. My guess, its because the white doesnt have a clear and it actually affects the base coat.

I experienced this a few days after picking up my White 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport. I had never seen anything like it. I had the same problem on my wifes then new 2012 Corolla. I immediately took BOTH of them to a local detail shop. They guy there also said that he had never seen anything like it. He told me he would attempt to remove it but made NO guarantee as they were both brand new vehicles. Although I am NOT 100% sure, I believe he got it off with Lacquer. Of course I offered to pay the man but he refused to take anything, in fact he could NOT get done thanking me enough as how the same thing could have easily happened to a professional detailer. I will share what I have learned. Stay away from petroleum based tire products. I was using what I thought was a high quality product (Wolfgang) and it still stained the shit out of my paint. I was lucky. The bulk of my stains came out. I have read much much worse scenarios, when in fact all that was left was repainting. I'm told this is all from tire mold release agent that are on todays new tires. The ONLY way to prevent it is to use a heavy degreaser and scrub the hell out of the tires before putting ANYTHING on them. I was fortunate to learn of Adam's Polishes, which offers super products and outstanding customer service. I have been using Adam's Super VRT which I believe to be the best Vinyl, Rubber and Tire Trim that I have ever used. I have been using this on BOTH my 2016 White Tacoma TRD Sport 4 Door and my wife' 2016 White RAV 4 with fantastic results and no problems whatsoever. Good Luck and be VERY careful with what you put on your tires.

My buddy puts "sugar water" on his tires to blacken them ... and he is a chemist.

He always said to stay away from solvents because of future tire cracking problems.

He puts cheap white sugar in warm water and lets it stand and then puts it on ... blackens clean tires very well ... just stay away from ants. (NOT a joke).

To suggest that the dealer can't paint the doors is ridiculous. Most dealer (at least the Toyota dealers here in south Mississippi) have body shops and turn out great looking repairs. Let 'em at it...it's going to equal what any "outside" shop can do if not be better. And if they screw it up it's their (Toyota's) fault.

Its not that they "can't" paint the doors, its a matter of paint matching, is the op more willing to live knowing the doors are repainted on a brand new truck and knowing the paint match isn't perfect, because it never is or more willing to live with the stains.

Rolling my eyes...who better to match Toyota paint than a Toyota body shop? C'mon, give it some thought.

I was sitting in the dealership yesterday and I could see the stains on the truck, while it was sitting probably 20 yards from me outside through the window. I think the stains would be more noticable than the doors being repainted. I understand what you're saying though, I'd prefer neither to be happening, especially since it isn't my fault.....

Nope, you give it some thought. A toyota body shop is just like every other body shop out there. They use a paint code or a machine that reads the current paint and mixes a match. They don't have "OEM" paint lying around that the assembly lines use during the paint process, not how it works at all.

I agree with that but...THEY are TOYOTA and THEY have to stand behind the work. A private shop is not going to do anything more than the Toyota body shop is going to do and will not be liable like Toyota is. As for the paint...you've never had a car/truck repainted? I work with classics all the time and aftermarket paint is more than equal to what is sprayed on in the factory.

Surely have had cars repainted, the paint quality from any reputable body shop is fine, not the issue, its the worksmanship and paint match again. I had a Subaru dealer fix a down to metal scratch/ding in my 6 month old WRX and it was the worst body work I have ever seen. The only reason it got fixed was because USAA is a badass insurance company. Point I am making here, is if the damage is tolerable, in many instances it can come out a body shop worse than it went in.

The argument was never toyota body shop vs other body shop, its getting the truck's doors repainted vs not at all

On repainting ... its depends on dealership, paint booth ... painter and maybe weather. I am not a painter, but was part owner in a several companies were we manufactured and did very high end paint ... fire trucks, speciality vehicles and even 2 Pope-Mobiles in Canada in early 1980's.

Nothing like factory paint (for the most part) ...... FWIW, I had a new Camry repainted completely 3 times at a big Toyota dealer here and it was never right. ........ That Camry got to the point of "over-paint" aka too much paint. We had best painter and it just never came out right.

In our business (not Toyota), sometimes it's the paint that will just make you crazy ... we repainted more vehicles than I want to say ... :anonymous:

Even in super paint shop .. normally a door does not go to the best painter ... even in an excellent dealership ... small jobs like doors can be for practice ...

Paint can go well or it can be a nightmare and I have had both.

PS .. Your best bet is a speciality painter who does ... i.e. Ferrari, Porsche & etc ... but it will cost you.

The truck is only a day or so old, the dealer can roll back the deal, and get you a different truck.

I had that done on my Honda Pilot a few days after delivery, there was a dent on the C pillar that I noticed, and they had a dent guy come out, he got the dent out but made it worse by cracking the paint. The sales manager says they can repaint the car. it was unacceptable for me, so I wrote the dealer a nice long letter stating my concerns with painting a new car, etc..

I had a meeting with him, and he agreed to 'roll back' the deal, and got me another car. This was the first time i've ever heard of this, and the salesguy says this happens every once in a while.

There is no thing as a "Toyota" body shop. It's just owned by the person or company who owns the dealership. There is no difference between them or an independent body shop

It's worked for me on many other things bud, never had any issues. It seemed to be just as effective as anything else that was recommended in this thread...

found this scary article I'll share:

As a former employee of a certain gigantic auto manufacturing company I have heard of this problem many times. If there are a lot of these brown spots and they are very small then they are most likely a result of "rail dust". This happens to new cars when they are shipped via railroad and small pieces of steel get embedded in the clear coat. After a while the steel starts to rust and you get brown spots on your car. I don't know what kind of vehicle you own but at my former company this damage is the number one warranty claim.
