I think I'm calling the dealership tomorrow and try to get the blue color. My understanding ithat is a dual stage painoting process..... wish you the best!

So I called the dealership after giving them until 7pm to call me. They said the rep and chemist for the tire shine company haven't seen anything similar and they believe it has something to do with the tires, maybe the anti mold agent on the new tires mixing with the shine? Anyway, they couldn't help with removing the stains so the dealership has already ordered me a new truck and it should be here Friday. The interesting thing is, the stains already seem to be slightly fading but the dealership scuffed and damaged the paint from trying to remove the stains, I think with a magic eraser, that they've caused more damage than the stains.
Bottom line is I'm getting a new truck to replace it so I'm happy. And I told them no tire shine on this one. I'll be making sure I wash these tire diligently before driving it anywhere.

@Ncsurveyor That's great news! congrats! I guess I should go in and give it a shot then, I'm just worried they will blame me since I am the one that put the tire shine on the wheels.

From what I keep reading, the anti mold agent in the tires mixing with the tire shine seems to be the exact culprit, but it will vary from dealer to dealer as to whether or not they will come to that conclusion.

Yeah good luck, I wouldn't mention the tire shine, id just tell them the paint has developed some type of stain and see what they say. I think the thing that's gonna hurt you is the time frame, how long has it been since you bought the truck? I only had mine a few hours before it got stained so it was obvious it wasn't anything that I'd done. Maybe print some of these forum post to prove that it's happening to other tacomas. That's what I did so they wouldn't think I was making the story up.

@Ncsurveyor I've had the truck for almost two months, I will for sure have to go in there with some ammunition, I don't live very close to the dealer I got the truck at, but maybe I will get lucky and go to a dealer that knows of the problem, and they will be able to work with me. I may be the one that put the stuff on my tires (that has been around for years, and I have used on multiple cars without issue) but there is no documentation on their end that tells me there may be things that will react with the tires they use. The good news is that the stains do seem to be fading a bit with the sun here in Southern CA but, if they don't disappear I am stuck with a new truck with ugly stains.

I believe they will fade. My biggest issue was the damage the dealer did to the paint trying to remove the spots. It looked like they'd taken sand paper to a couple spots and it was very noticeable and unacceptable. It would require painting the doors to correct it and I didn't want a new truck with body work.

Yeah they already ordered a white but after reading a some threads about white being a single stage paint I'm beginning to second guess my decision. I just think white looks best in the gen 3 Tacoma.....

...^^^... Good luck with your new truck.

FWIW ... I never let the dealer wash my vehicle. Any new vehicle gets a good wash from me when I take it home.

IF the dealer used a "MAGIC ERASER" on your paint .. this should be in the .. "WTF Thread" ...

They told me they used a magic eraser and it was obvious they did, there were two or three places that looked like they used sand paper it was scuffed so bad. It was actually worse than the original stains.

Just got a call from the dealer, I've got a brand new identical truck coming into port by middle of next week! Not what I expected at first but they definitely made it right!

...^^^... The use of that "dealer Magic Eraser" got you a new truck ... :) ... I would not want the dealer to detail it this time.

Good luck with your new ride and you were very lucky to talk to "the right people" at the ***"right dealership".

*** Kudos to the dealership for doing the right thing.

I must have gotten lucky. I don't see that mess on mine. I don't use tire shine though, only 303 aerospace protectant. Glad they are taking care of you guys.

Hey OP, have you considered going after Armorall? You might have to, after the dealer doesn't accept responsibility..!! Just a thought. What does it say on the bottle? Anything like "will not harm paint"...?? Might be worth looking into.
    Good luck my friend
