I picked up my blue TRD Sport and noticed the tire shine sprayed all over the fender. What I did was using the QuikDetail Meguiar's and wipe them off.

If you get to them fast enough they wipe right off, I'm not sure what the variable is but some of the stains just don't wipe off. It's a very small percentage that stains when the tire sling gets on the body, however what gets on the paint at the bottom of the truck (textured paint) will not wipe away.

What a headache. I am of the thought that it isnt the fault of the shine at all. Even if the shine is staining, there would need to be holes or imperfections in the paint itself. Now I could see that given the textured surface and single stage white paint..

Best thing to do is get it sealed and protected from the get-go (even though they say to let new paint settle a few weeks). I assume it is good to wax by the time someone actually takes delivery anyway.

@tini77 not really but it's been about a month since my original ncident and the sun has bleached them enough to where they aren't noticeable unless you are sitting on the ground with your face a few inches away from the paint.

I had this exact thing just happen to my, not even 3 week old, SR5. I bought my truck from a different dealer but had my truck washed at Toyota of Deerfield in south Florida. Darren Palmer, the Service Director flat out told me I was lying. I said, ok let's put more tire shine on my tires and see if it stains my truck more, that will prove it was the tire shine. He refused and said he's not washing my truck because I'm not a customer of theirs. Then he told me he washes 300-500 cars a week and hasn't had one complaint like mine regarding tire shine staining the paint. I tried to show him the forums here and this finishing.com link that says "Brown Stains on my Brand New Vehicle: Tire Shine? Mold Release Compound?" and he said he didn't care what "expert" threads or websites I showed him. After more complaining that my new truck was stained while he repeated "I can't do anything for you" he finally said "we no longer have business here" and him and his minion turned their backs on me and walked away. COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Guess my only option at this point is to cross my fingers and hope it fades over time. Very disappointed..

Why would you not pursue that further? How can you let someone in the service industry speak like that to you. I would have been on the phone with corporate or a rep the second he turned his back.

That's what I intend to do. I really have no other choice. Making a scene and cussing him out in the middle of the dealer isn't gonna make him want to help me any more.

Update: Called corporate. Said their wasn't much they could do and I should hear back from Customer Relations from the dealer within a business day or two.

Update 2: The Customer Relations Manager called and was absolutely no help. She just repeated the EXACT same things that the Service Director and a response to my review of their dealership on dealerrater.com already stated. But she made sure to add that they are "not obligated to do anything" about it. :blahblah:

Fixed JBL audio passender door rattle with felt between door and switch plate. Reseated driver side body mount behind passenger seat to fix annoying clicking/creaking sound.

How does it look a year later? Did they fully fade. I have these on my new Tacoma after the damn Macguires Hot Shine slung after rain. Mine aren't very dark so I'm hoping the sun will help.

Any resolution? Have the stains faded?

The fucking shop tried to compound out the stain. They went through the paint on 4 panels. 45% of my truck is getting repainted right now. Basically it is ruined. It may look ok, but any one with a paint depth finder will know half the truck is not factory paint.

Did you ever find out what removed it?

I just noticed them today and it's really annoying. I am almost positive it is the tire shine that leaves these marks... I guess when I go get a car wash, I am wiping all the tire shine off of the tire.

I used to be a freak about using tire shine and being obsessed with the look. I've since stopped completely. Looks great when it's freshly applied on a standing-still vehicle. The second you go driving down the road, it just throws grease and slop down the side of your car/truck.

My dealership did the same thing and went completely savage with the tire shine and it flung everywhere. Fortunately for me after it washed off without issue even after it had sat on my paint for over a week.

Wow Jesse, im shocked. I noticed it the next morning and by that point it was too late.

However yesterday i tried mcguires clay bar set. Took a fucking hours to remove the 4 larger spots, but the clay bar worked!

However it does not seem to be working on the textured part of the bottom of the truck. Nor on any plastic parts.

Bringing it to a professional detailer today. I will report back
