Water was up to my running boards and I was stuck in the mud hole.

I managed to get out but I had to give it a lot of gas and floor it out.

The drive back to my in laws was fine but tonight I have to drive 400 miles home. Will I be okay if I wait till the weekend to change my fluids on my diffs etc...

Im concerned the 6 hours of driving tonight might screw stuff up. I cant change fludis right now as everything is closed and tomorrow I have to go into work. I have to drive it back home tonight.

    Thanks

Looks like I am just going to have to go.

Any advice would be great since I am leaving in an hour. The diff valve is on top and the water was only up to my running boards so I feel like I am good.

Might want to check to make sure your rear dif breather is clean, unless they changed in on the 3rd gens it is just on top of the dif

Make sure theres no mud caked on the inside of your wheels. It can throw them off balance and cause a bunch of shaking at highway speeds.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
You're fine. rear dif is the only concern but ive had mine deeper than that and havnt got around to changing the fluid or extending the breather yet. my understanding is you just dont water in there so you dont start corrosion. its not going to cause any damage

Dude, you're fine. And if your diff has problems, you will be in good company. They'll fix it without too many questions.

I remember my first mud hole. I blew up the turbo on and fried the rings on a 22rte. Drove it home under its own power. You'll probably be fine

I've submerged my diff in salt water before I did the diff breather. No water in the diff after i changed it out that same weekend. If you were in mud you should be fine. It only sucks in water if the diff is hot and gets cooled fast to create a vacuum to suck. You have to remember it's only one opening that has to intake water and release air through the same valve.

Water can go in through the axle seals. the breather is one way

If water can enter axle seals shouldnt oil be existing when just sitting there?

Yea I am worried about the axel seals as well since my diff was exposed to the cold mud hole. It was 50 degress outside when I was there.

You're fine. Axle seals only let water/mud in when they get old. Only reason for the most part the factory breather fails is because it's faulty and sticks open. Enjoy your truck and don't worry so much.

It doesn't hurt to err on this side of safety. I changed mine after a trip when I Probably didn't need to, but for $50 the peace of mind was worth it.
