In 400 miles small amounts of moisture condensation will be boiled out. Now if you filled the diff with water you will have gear oil looking like coffee with allot of cream and you will likely harm the differential. Takes 5 minutes to pull the diff plug and find out.

I've owned a 4x4 for must of my life, I am starting to wonder if my tacoma is as tuff as I remember them to be! I see to many threads saying you need to mod this or mod that! Don't use the tow hook or tie down hook as a recovery point, ac mod or the frame will rust, diff mod or the it will rust. I have never worried about any of this on my prior 4x4s other then lube the front hubs. What am I missing?
