Hi, I'm new here. I'm not a Tacoma owner, but I work on cars and ran into a problem today when working with my buddy on his truck. We replaced the timing belt, cam seals, crank seal, all accessory belts and the water pump, and now we've got a loud knocking noise when the truck is in gear, foot on brake, accessories on - A/C, headlights, etc.
Bummed out by this, took everything back apart, but found no problems, everything is to spec, tight clean, nice and dandy. We noticed that when the truck is not in gear and loads are off, the knock isn't there. We started removing belts one by one and it seems that the knock isn't there when P/S belt is off, but as soon as we put tension on that belt, the knock is back, sounds like its coming from behind the Crank pulley. If this sounds familiar to anyone please advise, appreciate it...
