I was encouraged to regear the Differential due to a small camping trailer that we are pulling which dogs out on hills. I was encouraged to go with a 4.88. Since the install, the truck is making terrible noises when accelerating or coasting.
Please advise before I burn anymore money on this.
    Thank You

Did you check diff oil? If has oil and no chunks come out you might need to check how pinion and ring gear line up.

If you are not able there is a shop called
    Top shop auto. in Lafayette.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
This should point you in the correct direction.

From your description it sounds like the ring and pinon are not set up correct.

Did you Go with just new Gears? Swap in a complete used differential ? It would make a big difference.

Back lash was probably not set correctly, or worse. Depending on who did it, determines the direction needed.

I am going with they just installed a used differential and never even checked it out.

    We will see perhaps.

I can see if your truck was out on a trail broke down and you might seek help getting back on pavement from others here(you get Wi-Fi out in the bush?)but who would come on TW for that? if you have Wi-Fi you probably got cell service and would call a tow truck or taxi or ambulance would you not?

    I gotta agree
Why would you post any type of fast response question online.

I think Information Needed on (whatever) is a better title

OP has not returned no correct answer received??
