Are you talking about 2018's? because the 2017 Pro never came with a moon roof

I have a slightly different problem. I'm 6'2", but with short legs relative to my torso (My brother calls me a giant little person- Hey, I'm good with that) Anyway, I didn't think a Tacoma would work for me at all after I drove the Limited OR. I didn't realize how much better it would be without the moonroof until I drove mine.

I had no interest in a moonroof. My F-250 has one, and apparently its super rare.. I never use it.. forget its there sometimes. I'll take a black headliner all day

I am guessing you might be from Canada? I think the USA Pros are still minus the sunroof. This 18 Pro does not have a sunroof/moonroof listed. BTW, before it comes up, that is Vancouver USA

Interesting. I couldn't get the 2018 Tacoma to come up on the Toyota website to build (though the Tundra and lots of other models are "buildable" now on the site). But yeah, American 2017 TRD Pro definitely doesn't come with a moonroof (thank goodness or I wouldn't have one sitting in my garage). Maybe the Canadians sold their souls for premium audio (our TRD Pro also doesn't come with that). The great white north can be awfully dull without good audio quality, so I get it. I do. :canada:

I drove both a few weeks ago...a 2017 Pro & OR. From your original description, I feel like we have similar driving habits! I live in Utah and love to cruise around on the forest service roads.

The short version: I bought the Off Road. I felt like it handled better, especially on the freeway. I was just more comfortable in the OR. Sure, the PRO has some awesome features, but most of those features I'll never use (need) or notice that I'm missing.

Also, the PRO was used with a few thousand miles. They wanted $52k for it!!! I was OTD with the Off Road (brand new) + wheel/tire change (17" TRD/BFG KO2) + TRD grille for $37k. Definitely a no-brainer for me.

not sure if you're talking about the 18's specifically, but i got my Pro for 45k OTD. the key is planning ahead before the allocation shows. of course for me with a MT you have to plan way ahead just for the MT, no choice, but if you have managed a proper relationship with your salesperson, you can swing this. not every sales mgr vetoes these things. find a high volume dealer who looks to move vehicles when they hit the ground. you'll often find those dealers in urban areas where they have limited lot space.

I have found 3 locally that will do MSRP or a few hundred under. I have deposits down at 2 of those places and it is a race to see who can get me one first before I change my mind for an OR. Either way, deals are out there if you are willing to call around. Oh yeah, one of those places said they will not sell to anyone that isn't local for MSRP, one said they ship as far as FL for MSRP, and the last was evasive about non-locals.

If you want to drive up to Oregon, right off of I-5, I can tell you where to go if you want MSRP.

I ordered a Grey, manual trd pro in January and took delivery in July. I paid msrp of 41,500.00 dollars in Arkansas. I traded a 2016 (41,000 miles) offroad automatic in on the Pro. I like the manual pro so much more. Real trucks you have to clutch and shift. I am getting better mileage and it rides so nice. It was well worth the extra cash.

You'll dig this story (or hate it). Since my daughter is turning 16 and inheriting my Honda Element, I went shopping for a new car starting this spring. I had 2 requirements only in my search: 4wd AND MT. I had driven everything from a Ford Focus RS to a Ram 2500 including the anemic Subaru Forrester (Why the hell doesn't the turbo motor come with MT option?!? I'm still mad about that even though I couldn't be happier to NOT be riding around in one)

Anyway, I better shorten this story. I finally drove a TRD OR and loved everything about it except the headroom, which I decided was tight enough to be a deal breaker as my head hit the edge of the sunroof when I intentionally drove fast over a speed bump. I drove back to the dealership bummed out. I told my young, inexperienced sales rep that it wasn't going to work. She replied that the dealership had just ordered "some high end trim 4X4 Tacoma" that didn't have a sunroof for some reason. She said it was being built and she would call me as soon as it came in. She called as promised, I drove it shortly after it left the truck, called my wife and picked her up in it, and then bought it that same day.

3 guys asked to test drive it while we were doing the paperwork!!

Now that I recount this story, I realize that I bought the TRD Pro purely because it was the trim I wanted, minus the moonroof. I bet that puts me in an extremely small group of people!
