ha! yeah my mission was MT and tough, since my last car was a diva and got totaled from debris on the road, but MT was the requirement. i looked at the tacos and didn't really care for them until i saw the Pro and really liked the trim, and it fit all my requirements before mods, but this was before they were available. so i put my name down and ended up scoring the first MT Pro delivery in TX about 10 months later. apparently the staff at the dealership and they tell me at the port also everyone wanted to try it out, but it was preserved for me, 1 mi on the odometer.

with the electric rear glass and my height I'm also happy there's no moonroof. i prefer the headspace for sure. and the MT with the OV tune... gawd!

He hasn't driven one either so as I scroll down I expect to see no OP replys. Or else hes breaking his own rule.

Either he meant the opposite or maybe fibbing about the test drive.

I didn't know we were blessed with premium audio up here. But you know it kinda makes sense cause it gets so friggin cold outside you just don't get out of the truck so we need that little extra quality.

    LOL.

Anyways, I think I decided on the best of both worlds. I was going to sell my WRX and replace it with a truck. But I got offered a great deal on an OR with everything I want. So my dealer took it from another region. It was scheduled to be built yesterday which I thought was fitting since I was there to sign that same day. So I decided I'd go for it. Now I get to keep the WRX until I'm done with having two vehicles with different purposes.

Holy crap Bud, I too had an Element 2005 MT ,loved that thing but was too small after the 2nd Bernese Mountain Dog and 2 kids.

So back in April I got all crazy and had to have the Pro with MT. I called 40 to 50 dealers looking for this thing with no leads. The closest I got was a dealer in Montreal who had a demo with 7000 miles on it. He put a tonneau cover and some sliders on it and was asking 59000 for it, about 8000 over.

The way it works up here apparently is Toyota Canada surprises a dealer with 1 Pro ,no colour no transmission choices. Seems random.
Several dealers say there are 85 Pros almost all AT for 2017 in the country.

I found my truck by fluke . The dealer got the truck and had a buyer with a deposit since March. This guy couldn't close the deal (financing issues). When I called it just become available. The only problem was the transmission AT. I didn't even get to test drive it but still went for it .
While doing the paperwork another person came in and was ready to buy, it was that close. The dealer was awesome, cut 1500 off msrp.
Possibly because I was bitching about the lack of the turd pedal. Anyhow I love this truck and to all those who say it's gutless, try shifting your own gears. This thing has balls .

I absolutely love having a sunroof. Especially in the winter when the sun is beating on my leather seats to keep them "relatively" warm when I get into my freezing cold vehicle. And nothing like a nice breeze coming in, on those hot summer nights!

    I've driven both.

In what I saved buying an Offroad I have Fox 2.5 extended travel all around and dakar leafs with total chaos UCA.
It rides better than the Pro did and its still cheaper than what a pro would've cost me. And I have better tires and plenty of upgraded armour.

    Not much stock left.
I have a PRO, and it's a fantastic vehicle. I like the OEM leather, and not a big fan of aftermarket seat covers, so the PRO was perfect, BUT the '18 OR's now come with leather, so that's something to consider if you are a fan of OEM leather.

If you have no plans to modify the truck and can afford to spend extra, then get the PRO (you wont be disappointed). If you want to modify it with a lot of aftermarket stuff, then get the OR and save some $$$.

I test drove an '18 TRD OR Premium today, and it was nice. However, the salesman told me that b/c of the new safety jizz (TSS-P), that Toyota is telling the dealerships that they aren't to modify (lift) the new Taco's. According to him it has to do with the camera in the windshield. They don't currently have any plans to realign the camera after it has been lifted. As of right now, it will have to be aftermarket.

I've driven both, but overall the OR is the better deal. The PRO does ride better, but that price is absurd. Avoid the markups and get a OR fully loaded for 37K. Take that extra 8K get a lift and bigger tires/new wheels. It'll ride way better and you'll still have 4K to do MODS or go on a trip.
This is all if you get the TRD PRO for MSRP. Dealers are marking them up like crazyyyyy!!!!

As H3llRid3r mentioned about the TSS-P concerns get a '17 and save even more.

Are dealers still marking up 2017 Pros? From a quick search, there are about 100 brand new nationwide. I’m watching this thread becoause I’m deciding between a Sport or Pro, since I like the hood.

I found a pro at one dealer at MSRP. Most around here had crazy 5-10k markups even on the 17’s. One dealer generously offered to knock 2k off a 2017 model with their 10k markup...after I already had a deposit on an 18. It might also depend on what area of the country you are looking. Hopefully you aren’t in so-cal, as that seems to be the worst area for mark ups.

    When in doubt, hood scoop.

Only diff really between the three models is shocks. Get the one that will attract the most sausage.

I paid MSRP on a manual cement pro in central florida. Drove 5 hours to pick it up. They would not budge from msrp. Having tested a TRD OR in automatic, I would definitely go for a pro at a sane price. It rides much better, and at least I dont plan to remove all the pro gear for something else. Im not that hard core. If you plan on keeping her mostly stock, PRO. And if you want something better, manual. I see these keeping decent value vs the automatics a few years down the line. Kind of like how nobody wants the automatic version of a classic sports car. Manuals have become a novelty.
