No two vehicles are the same with this, as every float has different tolerances

That said, on my Taco's 21 gal tank, the light comes on when I have used approximately 14-16 of those gallons.

you would've gotten about 5-6 mpg better going 55. Also after the pump stops you can re-swipe and start pumping again.

Wow close call. Scary like those horror movies where the escaped crazy cannibal with a huge appetite and large knife is looking for a meal....in a stranded person....in the dark....where nobody can hear you scream...

Yeah...If you were that worried 80MPH was not the right answer. It takes MORE gas to move the truck that fast than at 55MPH.

In my previous life I was driving a Chrysler Pacifica and I got the on-board down to "0 miles until empty", and then HAD TO GO ANOTHER 12 MILES.
I thought was was going to die. I made it though. lol

Congrats on making it. Now get a jerrycan like teamfast up there. I'm looking for one too but I refuse to buy a stupid plastic one with a crappy nozzle.

The fuel light came on just as I was pulling into the station to refuel. Took exactly 17.005 gallons till the pump stopped automatically.

I would stay there was 4 gallons left in the tank when the fuel light came on.

4 x avg. fuel consumption = miles left in reserve.

    4 x 18 = 72miles for me at least

I have done many posts on what the fuel gauge is tellihg us... It is in my sig. info if you drag your mouse over to it...

The tank is 21 gallons... the following are +/- 0.5 gallon:
At the 3/4 Line on the gauge, you have 16 gallons/ down 5.
At the 1/2 tank line, you have 12 gallons/ down 9.
At the 1/4 tank line, you have 8 gallons/ down 13.
When the light comes on, you have 4 gallons/ down 17.
At the E Line, you still have 3 gallons/ down 18.

'3 gallon reserve' on the Empty Line.
