I went with the the All Pro "Apex" suspension kit and 34" tires on 17s. I'm also going to be installing the hybrid f/r and sliders from all-pro. I was thinking 5.29 but I don't know if that might be overkill. Oh, and I'm guessing the rear is an 8.4 on the TRD-OR with factory e-locker and the front is an 8. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rear is an 8" and you can order everything from east coast gear supply. They do a core charge and send you a ready to go front diff and third member. Best and easiest way to go if you ask me.

As far as gearing goes, I went with 4.56's for my 33's and am now running 35" tires. The 4.56's so just fine, but if I ever break anything where I am in the diffs, I will jump up to 4.88's. All depends on what you are doing with the truck and what you want it to do. If you want more torque then go with higher gearing. I believe for that tire size the "correct" ratio to get you back to stock would be between the 4.56 and 4.88. If you do any sort of rock crawling, go higher gearing 4.88-5.29and you'll be way happier. But if you're cruising a lot of highway miles then maybe the 4.56's will better suit your needs

    Probably 4.56, 4.88 is a little low for 34s

Thanks for the help. It's the people like you that make this forum good for getting tech help. I'm thinking the 4.88 is a good option for me.

That'll get you a big boost in torque without making it hard to drive on the freeway. You'll end up sitting 2500-3000 at highway speeds which isn't too bad

Also some tires run small. Might want to measure them out first

I think just about all tires run small. And if you are measuring them, do it full of air and no weight on them. I think my 35" tires measure to about 34.7 and squish to 33" under the weight of the truck.

They all run small but some can be an inch or two less than advertised

That's good because my daily commute caps at about 45 mph.

See below.... this was about 285's but at the bottom i did math to the bigger tires. FYI a 315/75R16 to be spinning the stock rpms at the same actual mph would need a 4.22:1 axle ratio.... 4.56's being more ideal than the other option of 4.30's as you are spinning a shit ton more weigh as well as you probably have tons of armor as well.

also dont listen to this guy.... hes just butt hurt im not coming out to AZ to celebrate thanksgiving with him.

This and you're all talk no mods claiming anything more than a fire road is for the dirt bike not the truck.

I mean, your info is usually quite good and accurate, but I'm still mad at you

New axle should be here next week thank you very much. I'm just saying your knowledge is very research based where mine is experience based. Maybe the OP doesn't care what rpms or fuel economy he's going to get with different gear ratios. Maybe he wants to know what it feels like seat of the pants to throw the hammer down and light up some 35's :burnrubber:
