Hey everyone I just got my new bilstein shocks for the rear end of my 2009 tacoma.

I started taking off the old ones but im stuck, when I go to remove the top 14mm nut the shock just spins.. should I just use a pair of pliers to hold it or what? any tips would be great. Thanks!

There should be a part of the stem that sticks up above the nut and has a flat spot on each side. You should be able to put a wrench on it to hold it to break the nut loose

Do you have an impact wrench? If not and the shocks are being replaced anyway it wont hurt anything to grab the stem with pliers or channel locks

well if you don't care about keeping the old shocks you can always take a cutoff wheel and cut the top nut off

yea thanks for all the input guys, im about to cut the nut off or cut the gaurd off the shock to grab the stem. I got the top nut loosened with pliers but not the rings are all flatened on the top from the pliers so the nut doesnt want to spin off
