Well, nothing says, "I love you," more than a pearl necklace around your wife's neck.

Don't know if this is one worth fighting, but you are sooooo right!!!!!
Its been a while since being in the food industry, but there is a range of temperature (approx. room temp.) that food is most susceptable bacteria and spoil, the less time it is in that zone the fresher and less likely it will be contaminated. Most perishable foods need to but either hot or cold, not in between.

    ^^^^^Well said!
The longer you leave food out the more likely it will develop bacteria on it that can cause you or your wife to have a food born illness. I use to work
for a food safety company. If I remember correctly, the sooner you get food in the fridge, the better. :)

Being an enthusiastic "jeweler", I have to agree with this:D...........on the food note I say compromise, ooo I'm a marriage counselor too. Leave it out long enough to cool a bit but put it in the fridge before it reaches room temp & before it's forgotten. If you put it up hot then it will condensate and depending on what it is, could be kinda weird come leftover time..........so you're both wrong.

Working with in the food industry what you would do is throw the food in the fridge but make sure it is in a breathable container to help dissipate the heat and keep moisture from forming.

I am a scientist type...and thermodynamically speaking, you and your wife have already used up more energy fighting about this topic than the energy required for the fridge to cool the hot food.

    My 2 cents...

    1) Never argue with a wife
    2) Just put the stinking food in the fridge and forget about it.

    Who's doing the cooking??

The person who's in charge of cooking the item WINS.

Let the cook be the cook and do it however they want. Besides that, who really cares? You're suppose to eat the food long before anything has a chance to grow!!

    Toku, what's up?

That's the idea behind pasteurization. You bring hot items rapidly down to cool temperatures to kill the bacteria because they cannot handle the rapid change in temperature.

You're still wrong though because you have a penis.
    Better to give up now...

There must be a How its Made episode of flash-frozen food. You may be wrong by default according to the infallible laws of the ball and chain, but the TV is always right.

    Do you know why?

Isn't room temp relative? What about people who live in Alaska? Do they have a higher risk of food spoiling??
The minute they take it off the stove, it's like they're in a refrigerator.

Well when she insists on getting the results from this Man Poll you got to tell her the consensus is clearly she's right.

Word from the wise. Next time just do it and the issue would have never came up. Food would have been in the fridge and you could have still said "Yes Dear" when she chastised you for putting it in too early. It's not like she is likely to take it back out of the fridge when you have already admitted your error.

Now walk to the end of your chain and bark.
