I have an 08 5speed 4cyl Regular cab 4x4 and I just experienced my truck shaking bad when I started it up to go to lunch. Symptoms were more than the usual shaking of my shifter and the engine shaking where I can really feel it sitting down while just parked. I turned off my truck and started it up again and it did the same thing BUT after it warmed up it went away to idling smooth. There's NO check engine light either. The weird thing is when I first started up my truck this morning before heading into work, it didn't have this unusual amount of shaking. Only now when I start up my truck to go to lunch it does this. Thanks in advanced

Can you tell if the engine is idling low or particularly rough? That can cause something like this. Otherwise I'd suspect an engine or transmission mount has split or is no longer flexible.

when I first started it, the idle was above 1,000rpm not too sure I gotta check the video again. But after it warmed up, the idle dropped back to normal around 700

It might be idling a little high at start but my thought was the idle would be very low and 600 to 700 RPM is about right. Maybe it's just time for a tune-up, plugs, filters, etc. or you just have a tank of bad gas. I'd still check engine and transmission mounts to make sure you don't have a tear or the rubber has separated.

It's not uncommon for some vehicles to idle at 1000 for a second or two at initial startup because it's burning all the fuel that was suddenly dumped in it but after that around 700-800 I would say is normal. Worst case scenarios would be something is broken and has thrown the engine off balance i.e. Crankshaft, harmonic balancer, flywheel or something but that's worst case. My first thought would be to check for failing bushings in the engine mounts and trans mounts. Does it settle down when driving?

Definitely get to a scan tool at autozone or somewhere if you don't own one. I have seen in fords that certain codes can trigger but the CEL not light up

That stuff is possible but I don't think a little bit of shaking in the stick would make me jump to the worst case scenario like that. :) Hopefully it's something relatively simple. If something in the engine or drivetrain was out of balance you'd probably notice it driving, such as a new vibration on the highway.

The stick in my old truck would shake a little like that at idle but it was because I had a lumpy RV-grind cam. So in our engines that would equate to an issue with the VVT possibly, too. But work through the obvious and easy first, check that the mounts are solid and cross fingers.

Yeah the truck ran normal at idle and while driving after it warmed up which is kind of odd. Maybe I'll start with a tune up
