Yeah looks really good. Looking forward to the bumper wrap. I was thinking about wrapping mine instead of painting because of the chrome. (I hear painting chrome is a bitch)

Oh yeah, give it a shot pull the bumper off peel the plastics off and i bet you could wrap it easily, cleanly and being a bumper and the fact its detached from the truck (not like two body pannels right next to eachother) you likely wont even notice the ever so super slight color difference.

That's exactly why I want to wrap instead of paint! That damn chrome!

I agree that you won't be able to tell the difference. Hopefully I can tackle this project prior to xmas time.
BTW great job on the brow!

So... could you wrap the grill with this stuff? I want a color match grill; however, the price is a tad high for one. What say all the vinyl experts here? Is it a job for a novice???

I stripped the chrome and painted the surround 2 years ago. It's now peeling and all pitted... looks like garbage from semi close. I want to wrap the surround also!
It can't be that hard as there is no rounded edges. I will do this after I wrap the bumper!

A bit of an aside: Are you in southern WI? I saw a silver streak grill west of Chicago the other day for $20 on craiglist. I was going to pick it up myself but a 3 hour drive is a bit much for me

Nice grill insert... looking to do something similar. Time and money. No I am WAY up north. Chicago is 8 1/2 hours away. I have not looked hard since spring. Truck spends most of its time in the garage, so hard to justify spending on it right now... Curious about wrapping the grill though!

Wrapped the rear bumper with 3M 1080 G120 Gloss White Aluminum.
It took about 3 hours to wrap both sides of the bumper. MUCH respect that do this as a job. It was long and frustrating. There are some imperfections in my install but hard to see from far.
Also repainted all the rusty bumper parts and the hitch.

Next is to dip the badges black and paint the exhaust black.

ALSO going to wrap my grille surround with the leftover material. My original paint job is looking rough after 2 years.

I know this is from back in 2019 :D but what was the process to strip the chrome?

I used an sharp knife blade and peeled it off. I'm not sure if it was the best idea. I definitely scratched the surround enough that sanding couldn't hide it. I should have used bondo but I was tired of working on that project.
I hear Easy-Off Oven Cleaner takes chrome paint off. People that retrofit headlights use it. Not sure if it would work on this type of chrome.
I know sanding the chrome didn't do shit and that's why I peeled it off.

    Hope this Helps!
Are planning on wrapping or painting the surround?

I used Easy off oven cleaner and a scotchbrite pad to strip the chrome on my retrofit. Just be sure to wear gloves when you do it.

Thanks fellas, I found some dude using the pressure washer yesterday, I’ll be trying that once the paint shows up! Cheers!

It is the silver from the 2013 and under tacomas, I believe silver streak metallic is the color like referenced in this thread.

2014+ tacomas came with silver sky metalic which is a big darker.

I have the Silver Streak Mica. Is the S120 or the G120 closer to match?
