    Evening Gents,

    First Post:

I am the proud new owner of a 2001 coma with a 2.4 and tomorrow I will need to get it smogged in the peoples republic of califoania.

    History:
I am finally retiring my 85 2wd hot rod, .080 over bore HC pistons, offy manifold with twin 38 Webber, big cam, light flywheel, recurved dist, MSD ign, Thorley headders, lowered, 15x7 mags with VR tires, air bags, lumber rack F/R anti roll bars... and it is totally worn out rusted and about to croak.

So, here I am with a very clean, dead stock Coma:

Runs well, NO check engine light
    185000 miles, at all????
    NO service history
Mechanic noted no "improvements", everything looks stock
    No codes in computer (OBD)
clean fluids - looks like it has been maintained well

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to glide through the smog test???

I have heard recommendations on other threads to bring in in "HOT"..

Some have suggested adding acetone or alcohol to the gas to "improve" the readings.

I want to get through this cleanly and quickly...

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks for the input,
    chris

Welcome to TW! Nothing to it, other than making sure the engine is nice and warm. Don't add anything to the gas, or such.

Why do you think you have to do anything?

Just make sure it's up to operating temperature, and see what's up.

Consider it a health check up of sorts.

Take it to smog and repair shop rather then just a smog only shop. That way if it fails, they can legally tell you why it failed, and you can fix it youself. Smog laws in CA are among the strickest in the nation and it has turned into a big money racket.

Thanks for the support and advice. Today I got it all done and am very happy to move from the 85 to the 2001 - WOW what improvements have been done in that time - I am a happy guy !!!

I have been a car, (truck) guy since high school.

    Thanks,
    chris
