I have no idea anymore, it was several years ago now. It might not even be an issue on the 3rd gens.

Some dealers have been known to use the ECGS bushing. Talk to your service manager, explain the issue and maybe they may do it or split the labor. Be cool and ask, it may work. My dealership is super cool with things like this. If not its not an expensive part and labor isn't too bad. I had mine done when the 5100s went on, so your kinda luck in one way as your ruling out issues as you go and not after your done trying to find a vibration.

Thanks for the shot of encouragement. I made an appointment at Toyota, can't hurt. If Toyota says yes, awesome, zero expense fix. If Toyota says no, no biggie, I'll have my guy do it with the right part.

Or......a hybrid, Toyota says yes, I can gently suggest the ECGS bushing. My appointment with the dealer isn't until the 1st, but I'll report back. Again, thanks for all the help. MJA

    Thanks for the interest.

I dropped the truck off at Toyota today. They gave me a call mid-day and right away pointed out that I had an aftermarket lift installed and informed me there would be a $300 diagnostic fee if they proceeded. Also, if it was found that the diagnosed problem was caused by the lift kit I would be on the hook for both the diagnostic fee and the cost of fixing the OEM needle bearing, a combined expense of about $1,000.00.

In light of the situation, I was happy they called before the diagnostic was done. In the end I was very up front about everything and told the mechanic I'd probably just have my local mechanic do the work. He gave me a knowing side-wink and nod.....probably the smart path forward.

I ordered the ECGs bushing and new seal. I'm hoping my mechanic has the needed know-how and tools available to pull the old and seat the new. That said, if anyone is in the WI area and has the puller banging around in a drawer, I'd be happy to pay shipping to borrow it for a week.

I made a date with my local mechanic for next week Tuesday to have the ECGs installed.

The TSB has a 0% success rate of repairing the vibration on a 3" lift I assure you.

I was the first in my region on a 3rd gen haha.

Thanks, well it's more money into the truck for a silly vanity lift, but I am happy about trying the ECG bushing as the better, more long-term, fix. I'll report back next week.

Hey Op I just did an ECGS install on my truck this past weekend and it wasn’t too bad of a job. Having the puller and install tool definitely helps out a lot. If your mechanic doesn’t have anything to pull the bushing out PM me and I can loan you the tool as long as you ship it back to me. I have all 3 tools puller, installer, and seal installer

Ok, truck is under the knife today to get the ECGS bushing installed. Big question, to re-add the drop diff or to leave out. Does anyone have a strong opinion they would like to share? Thanks in advance.

And fingers crossed that I'm vibration free by the end of the day!

I had mine lifted with 5100s, one inch block, ecgs clamshell bushing as preventative maintenance. So the shop did a rear carrier bearing drop and a front diff drop to keep the drive line all within specs. Some say no as other will say do it. Mine drives absolutely perfect, no shakes or vibrations. So the onto them doing the tires and my pro wheels after the lift was good to go. Kind of a process of illimination so to say. Been 3 years and all is good, I'm 2in up front and 1 in rear. Hope this helps. Drive it without and if it has a vibration add it. The shop I used is very well recommended around our parts and very capable of work far exceeding my lift.kit.

Very happy to report the truck rides smoother now than before the lift! Thanks to everyone that helped and pointed to needle bearing and the ECGs fix! Let my less-than-good luck be a warning to others! That $130 lift kit can easily turn into a $900 lift kit.

    Meh, it's just money....
