I am not using a quick wiring harness. I have power running to my deck the backlights are on and when I press buttons it makes noises. For some reason the screen is blank besides the backround color. Also I inserted a disk and cannot get it out. Any hep would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like a power or ground problem. There are generally two power wires, one that maintains the clock and settings, another to actually power the unit. The typical aftermarket unit uses yellow and red for these two functions.

Do you have them hooked up to the Tacoma wires that provide this same function? Do you have the unit properly grounded?

First off what is the make and model of the deck?

Hey guys! Thank you for replying. I actually figured it out I had a suspicion it was the deck itself even granted it was brand new. I took it back and got the same deck, plugged it in, in the parking lot and bingo. Everything was wired correctly it was just a dud. Thanks again guys!

Thanks for thanking me, but it sounds like I didn't do jack, your return action was the cure - all's well that ends well.

Edit: brian (below) straightened me out. Either way, no need for thanks.
