Help stripped rear diff fill plug!!!

Is it possible to fill it through the differential breather hole?

 

Daaaaang it man. Lots of pressure built up in there i guess. Use the chisel trick like JJ posted, or try and hammer a socket on it.

I would say to try to do it while the dif is warm but . . . .

 

Maybe a small torch like for plumbing. Have you tried cursing a whole lot at it? Sometimes I have to get to three or even four hundred curse words before something goes as planned. On rare occasions I invent new curse words and that helps. That is how cunttwatious came to be! It is an adjective:

You could screw out the vent and fill it there I'd imagine

Weld a nut on the stripped plug and problem solved. Or notch it with a dremel. No point in making it harder than it needs to be.

 

Same thing happened to me. The previous owner stripped the fill plug and I didn't realize it until I had already drained it! Fail on my part. I welded a wrench to it and between the heat and back strength, she came right off. Good luck.

Almost 100% guarantee his stock diff breather is plugged up, so there will be a ton of pressure trying to fill it from the drain hole only and no vent. Hence why the first attempt failed
