I had the same problem when I got mine. Air filter housing had a bunch of holes in the front of it, plugs and wires needed to be changed, and an OEM Denso MAF sensor was put in as well as a o2 sensor. I'm still only averaging 14-15 mpg per tank. However, I do have a heavier foot. But I've never seen anything over 16 mpg.

Everything just came in today. Today I also got around to cleaning the throttle body, doing the deck plate mod, and I replaced the PCV valve. Changing spark plugs and running Seafoam (sorry other poster, I already bought it) either tonight or tomorrow.
Alright here are my fault codes, and remember, I just replaced both O2 sensors. They were non-Denso but they were 4-pin like they're supposed to be:

Get denso sensors...at least bank one. The one before the cats. Factory parts is all I use.
It looks like your running way too rich.

if you run that shit it will dirty up your new o2 sensor so put the old one back in for running seafoam, then put the o2 sensor back in only after your done

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Looks like you need a coolant temp sensor.

Ok, going to look into coolant temp sensor since all it is is a glorified thermistor ($0.50 a pop on ebay) to see if I can clean it off or something before ordering. Bought all the fluids I need to replace, just need to wait for a cloudy day to do it. I found a Service Repair Manual for the '99-'00 models and it's freaking awesome, so I'm going to test the leads on the O2 before sending it back. Unfortunately RockAuto will not give me my money back, only facilitate a replacement with the manufacturer [Ultra-Power], and I'm not throwing 40 bucks out the window if I can help it, so buying a new Denso after getting this one a couple weeks ago will be the very last thing I do.
    - Fuel filter was kind of a bitch going in - was afraid I would strip the threads since my pipe is bent at an angle. The old one was super nasty; it turned the drained gas a mud color.
    - What's funny now is that I and a few respondents have thought I might be running rich, and after driving with the deckplate out, I have a new error about it running too lean, but the others codes remain after a clear.
    - Got a torque wrench - figured I should do things as correctly as possible.
    - Also tightened my gas pedal to throttle cable, but that's unrelated to anything in the thread. I wish I could make it as sensitive as modern cars....
