My 2006 Tacoma every so often won’t turn over. No clicking so it’s not the starter. I’m thinking just the ignition switch. Always on the next try it turns over perfectly.what the heck may it be..Thanks for the response in advance

Intermittent problems are a techs worst nightmare. You can leave it with them for a week and every time it will fire right up. As soon as you pick it up, it will fail the next day. If it ain’t broke, it’s impossible to diagnose. However, the 1st place to start would be to clean the battery cables and test the battery.

Like Muddinfun said. Sounds like battery to me. I have had Yota's / Tacos for 30 plus years and most of the time when the battery gets low or a bad connection it will either crank or do nothing. Maybe put new positive and negative terminals on it and put a charger on that battery and see if the problem goes away.

Who wants to over charge you, and how do you know they are if you don't know what's wrong?

I would suspect a Starter solenoid with the intermittent nature of his issue.

Listen carefully when you turn the key and nothing happens. If you hear a very small click then nothing I would almost bet money that the starter solenoid is in need of a repair kit. Cheap fix.

You can buy the contacts and plunger new from Nations Starter and Alternator for about 30 - 35 bucks. Much cheaper than hundreds for a rebuilt POS from Autozone etc.

    https://www.nationsstarteralternator.com/Starter-Rebuild-Kits-s/37.htm

Check this video for rebuilding the solenoid on the starter.

I'm positive that the dealership will overcharge. Most owners experience negative experiences with dealerships from salesman and it trickles down to service techs.

The OP has been a TW member for 1 1/2 years. This is his 1st post and he didn’t even stick around long enough to read the 1st reply. Not likely he’s coming back.
