I recently bought a 07 TRD Sport Tacoma with a 6' or 72" bed (access cab) and I am in the market for a topper. However my question is can I put any topper on my truck as long as the specs are the same? ie: I found a topper on Craigslist that is currently on a 1998 version of my tacoma, can I purchase it and mount it on my Tacoma?

She a Stocker, from really good stock, too.
This will not fit your truck. You need a 2005 or newer access cab topper.

To my knowledge, you can put any long bed canopy made for 05-11 except for a regular cab long bed design. I believe the angle of the cab on either access cabs and double cabs is more angled whereas the regular cab is vertical. I actually bought my canopy used from a guy in Oregon who found this out the hard way. Canopies designed for access or double cabs contact the brake light on regular cabs.

I've been looking,'05 thru '11 reg, access and double cab all have different cab angles according to the leer and snugtop dealers here in portland. One for 1998 Tacoma will not fit your truck the right way, that is for sure.

05-11 access cabs and double cabs are close enough in angle to fit. Just stick to the correct years.
