Might have a buddy look under and see what he can see.
Yes we pay plenty for our trucks, but they are machines, and some of us abuse them, then fix em willingly. Or Upgrade!

If you're feeling this when coming to a stop (after the rear suspension has relaxed) and from a start, it could be the slip yoke binding. I proved this to myself long ago. Some call it axle wrap, but whatever it's called, my issue can be solved by dropping the rear driveshaft, pulling the two halves under the boot apart, cleaning the splines and re-greasing the splines before re-assembly.

For me (and others, from what I've read) the problem is more pronounced when the weather is warm.

Hope this helps. If not, good luck.

    A few possible causes:
    • Axle wrap - take a torque wrench and tighten the rear leaf spring U-bolts to 74 ft-lb
    • Do a transmission fluid drain & fill. Use Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV.
    • U-joint slop - check per DJB1's post.
    • Slip yoke binding - grease per bigmooze's post.

FWIW , the proper way to check universal joints is by removing the driveshaft . Once the driveshaft is off , move the joints side to side checking for tight spots . There is no way to properly check a universal joint while the driveshaft is still on the vehichle .
When the driveshaft is on the truck , you may be able to see some play in the universal joint but you wont be able to check it properly without removing .

In addition to the above check the ubolts on the rear springs/axle. They can loosen up.
