Fingers crossed ...the slave Being stuck is the first answer that I can see causing it to act the way its acting ...I've been trying to think of why and how it could be stuck in a position to free spin

I will ...I appreciate all the responses ...Google don't know everything...been searching for hours ...never a mention of a stuck slave cylinder..only faulty slave cylinder not engaging which was opposite as what I'm experiencing

No one asked but in case you wondered what is inside the slave cylinder

Had same trouble as you. Slave cylinder was seized. Replaced it (around $125) and all good.

Removed the slave cylinder and moved the fork...the truck does go into gear and won't roll now that i manually moved the fork....but the fork seems very easy to move and doesn't spring back in place

The fork didn't have any pressure on it or anything to make it return or push the slave cylinder back in

Looks normal. Clutch is engaged. It takes a lot of strength to push lever to right and disengage clutch. Does slave cylinder move freely since it is off?

The push rod on the slave just bounces around in the boot ...there was no pressure on the fork when I removed the slave pushing back on the push rod ...when i removed the slave the fork stayed in the same position I can easily move the fork back and forth with one finger ...I don't know if it has that much play like in the video or if it would move to the right with more pressure ...when I move it to the left the truck does seem to be in gear and not roll which is "results" since it didn't do that before ...I just expected the fork to have pressure pushing it back to the left

Can you put the slave back on and get someone to push the clutch peddle to see if it depresses the fork and returns properly?

I'll try that out and let you guys know the results...when the slave was on and I had my wife press the pedal the slave moved maybe 1/4 inch but didn't return back any further

You can take boot off slave and check for corrosion on cylinder. It should be shiny as any rust will cause it to seize. Mine was corroded and would travel out and seize and not return causing clutch to stay disengaged.

Ok not sure what changed but I put the slave cylinder back on and while it was on jackstands I ran thru the gears and everything worked so I drove around the block with no issues ...thanks for all the help ...just glad it decided to work

Did you determine what what the problem was? Freeing up the slave cylinder is a short term solution. It should be replaced or it will come back to bite you in the butt!

I'm not sure but none of the local auto parts store had the slave cylinder in stock so ill order one from rock auto to have on hand if the issue pops up again ...I've had the 4runner about 10 years and maybe drove it 5 miles lol
