I’m at the oil changer place….did a power steering pump flush, they washed down the engine bay, now the truck won’t start. Starter clicks….but won’t turn over. Tried jumping it so it’s not the battery….lights work.
Thoughts? I’m stuck in the engine bay.

You could reach through the drivers side wheel well and give the starter a few love taps. Or just have it towed to a dealership and have them foot the bill for everything because they're the ones that caused this.

Also make sure your battery connections are solid. Just spitballing some things here on why it might not crank.

Battery looks bad, but lights work and starter tries to start it. Rapid clicking when you press the ignition.

I can’t really afford to have it towed, it’s my only vehicle.

Why did they wash down the engine bay?! Sounds like whoever washed it must of got water in the wrong places like the electrical components, starter and alternator.

What do you mean battery looks bad? Clean the connections and put them back on tight. May just be a coincidence with them doing the work and it wasn’t actually their fault.

Yea I don’t think it’s their fault. Terminals are a little salty. Having a battery delivered.

That's what my money is on because there are only so many things that'll cause your symptoms. Jump-starting isn't the final say either, just because it didn't start that way doesn't rule it out. Fingers crossed for you that a new battery and clean connections fix it for you.

The engine cover sure looks dusty as hell for just being washed in that pic.

Having bad/dirty terminal post can prevent truck from starting even if you have a good or new battery.

Yea, trips to Sedona, Ocotillo, Needles all have contributed to that for sure.

I don't know what you used to try to jump start it, but make sure whatever it is has enough cold cranking amps to start the truck. With my old Hyundai Tucson, I had a battery issue and tried to jump it from a battery charger I had, but it wasn't powerful enough to jump it. Roadside assistance came and their jumper pack started it right up.

But I've got a feeling a new battery will do the trick.

Lesson for the future....never take your truck to one of those quick oil change places like Jiffy Lube. Workers are about as far from a skilled automotive tech as you can get.
