Just did the cab mount chop to clear 285s.

Had the battery disconnected during welding activities, reconnected the battery after the operation, and the now the truck is a dead. No turnover, no lights, nothing.

Please tell me I didn’t just destroy my electrical somehow

I would go back and double check the connections. Make sure everything is tight and go from there.

Second get a test light or even better a multi meter and test the battery.

I have done some extensive welding on my truck and disconnecting the battery as you did didn’t lead anything negative as you are experiencing.

Sounds unusual that you have nothing. Youre saying no lights or it cranks and will not start? Check the connections again and verify that the main power fuse didn’t blow somehow. If you didn’t disconnect battery when welding you could screw up computers but you still have power. Please post updates!

Double checking connections now and have a multimeter on hand, will update asap.

Ruh roh is right. Hoping for the best op. Check what others have suggested and pray it's not a burnt up computer.

Worst possible scenario, the computer is junked.

    Any idea what they run?

Had to go buy a multimeter, mine was not working. Had battery tested, it passed. Going to clean terminals and go through the fuse box once I get back to the house.

If no lights and no crank and nothing works ,don't think its the computer .Try jumping starter solenoid to see if it cranks . If it doesn't, bad connection some place .

I would just like to take a moment and thank the Tacoma World community for yet again being my lords and saviors.

And my as***** is finally unclenched.

Cleaned the terminals with Coca Cola, wirebrushed all corrosion off, and taaa-daa, cranked no problem but talk about a bad time for that shit to happen.

    @whatstcp

Absolutely! I have pretty decent mechanical knowledge for a young guy but the vast amount of knowledge available via you guys, is invaluable.

So far TW has educated me enough to do the CMC, a suspension lift, solve this problem, and so much more. Just need more OT checks so I can buy more parts:D

Glad to hear it was just that simple and nothing worse!!! Last word of advise is to use baking soda and water paste to neutralize acid on the terminals. Wash off and dry and then apply some of that nasty anticorrosion paste.

And this is why my asshole clenches every time someone asks for an ECM for *insert random pretty reliable vehicle* at work. "I put this new computer in and it didn't change a thing ,this computer is junk!" :annoyed:

Congrats on fixing it with the simple shit 1st!

Sign up for Jody’s newsletter, he’s a great welder and full of good information. Watch his YouTube videos, read his site. I’ve learned a lot from him over the years. Start with a decent MiG welder, use solid mig wire if welding out of the wind so you can use C25 gas. If welding outdoors, I recommend Hobart Fabshield 21b fluxcore wire. It runs smooth and welds great.

Learn how to braze, too. You may not need it all the time but it’s useful. You’ll need a torch for that, I use oxy-propane. Torch is also an invaluable tool.
