Hey all, I'm a noob still shopping Tacomas; I haven't bought yet, but I have found a few worthy candidates. My question is regarding the diff on late model Prerunners. I've searched here and seen posts describing various types, so I'm a bit confused. If I'm looking for a 2009-10 Access Cab Prerunner 4cyl 5 speed, what differential options (if any) were there? I have no need for 4wd, as this will mainly be a commuter with lots of weekend home rehab duties. Still, the option to lock the rear diff if necessary would be nice. Thanks!

Yes, for 09 and newer there are two choices.

    1. Prerunner TRD Off-road: E-locker rear diff.

    2. Everything else: Open diff.

All models have at least the traction control and automatic limited slip (A-LSD) which takes the place of limited slip.
