Bought the Headstrong 3AAL leaf pack and it came with the wrong size u-bolts. The ones they sent are about a quarter inch too wide. I can almost get them on, but I need to really force it.

What are the odds that a local auto parts store would have the right u-bolts in stock??

IMG_20171110_150950.jpg Silver is the original, gold is the new one.

Contact Headstrong Offroad they'll make things right. Some semi truck shops and suspension specialty places make their U bolts in house.

I plan to, but right now I have my sole mode of transportation in parts on my garage floor with no means of putting it back together. Headstrong can't make it right fast enough, so need to solve the issue then work it out with Headstrong after. Plus they are now closed for the weekend.

Just put it back to stock and use the old bolts until the replacements are sent.

Problem is, I had to grind off one of the leaf retainer clips on the stock leaf springs in order to install the AAL. So going back to stock isn't an option.

That is bent. Looks kinda obvious to me. Jk idk.

It's you're sure they are wrong and you can't find them at a semi mechanic, OME and Rancho have u-bolts. Perhaps a 4Wheel Parts Wholesaler or other 4WD shop? There's nothing magically about U-bolts, find the right inside width and enough length, it's not rocket surgery.

Guys I have a question. Once you remove the U bolt, will that mess up the alignment? I mean it's a Dead axle that I know but I mean will that slightly move the wheels slightly forward or backward? I just really curious about that.

It's pretty unlikely that HS sent the wrong u bolts. They look pretty close to the original. The original looks slightly bent in. I've put on a bunch of u bolts over the years and very few went in without being squeezed in or pulled out a little.

For the last question- you need an alignment after a lift anyway, but the pins and pads position the axle back on the same spot.

Same as already posted, just bend it in a little - had to do the same on mine.

Thats what I ended up having to do. It worked, but would have preferred them to fit correctly from the get go.

I just had mine installed from HS yesterday too, yours look right. The shop that installed mine said they just cut off the extra length of ubolt to fit my single leaf kit and that they come that way. Also, what 3AAL kit did you get from HS? Mine was the single leaf Deaver 1.5” - 2” lift leaf, and it appears to have the same bolts as yours.

I’m very happy with it on a limited drive last night so far, and going to test it out on a bit more technical road this weekend.
