Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong place to post, Im looking for help valuing my tacoma in preparation to get rid of it.

02 Tacoma 2.4l, RWD, 230,000 miles, extra cab, 5 speed manual.

    Issues:
    - Bad head gasket, in the shop to be assessed currently
    - Clear coat flaking
    - 1 body panel bent
    - Previous owner lifted the front and put on wider rims. These are always out of alignment and wear the toe of the front tires unevenly.
-A/C has the chill factor of a hamster sucking on an ice cube then blowing it out a long straw.
    - Downstream o2 sensor keeps getting cooked and throwing p420 error code after 6 months of driving on it.

    Work done:
-New catlyitic converter done in 2017
-K and N air intake filter upgrade
    - Bluetooth stereo
    - Aforementioned front lift kit and wide tires.
    - New driveshaft and rear differnetial in 2015.
    - New radiator in 2023

I am the 4th owner i believe, used as a pool service truck. Drove it from 144k miles to 230k miles mostly suburban driving. It has always existed in southern California area, never exposed to snow or salt.

I need to sell it because family is growing and i cant take 2 carseats in it.

My options as i see it are:
-Rebuild the engine for 5.5k put stock rims, tires and suspension on it. and then sell
    -Sell as is.

Advice on what to do in this situation, how much you all would price it at is greatly appreciated!

I know pictures would be helpful, it is in the shop currently waiting assessment about the head gasket, i'll get pictures when possible if people want to see it.

Sell it AS-IS.......no way I would sink over $6k into it. Probably have closer to $7k by the time you are done.

Sell it. Like you said, you have a growing family. This truck will be a money pit and a drain on your resources, don't put any more money into it. Get a family type vehicle like a Honda CRV or similar. Sell it for best offer.... and as is.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Myself in your place sell as is !

If it was a 4x4 and you could do all the work you might recover the parts never the labor .

Time to let it go and move on.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Is the truck drivable? Is it misfiring? What the symptoms?

Thank you all so much! Really appreciate the advice. I’ve ordered a Ford Maverick a month ago, who knows when it’ll be ready. My hope was I could hold onto the Tacoma until that thing was delivered. I do need a truck for my job, I work for a Pool Service company. Hopefully I can sell it at the cost of money I’ve put into it last round of repairs.

And yes, it is drivable. No other drivetrain issues besides the head gasket and the suspension that wears the toes of tires out quickly.
