    As others have mentioned , a last resort but it works very well with a steel or alluminum drive shaft .Seen many vehicles come into the shop with broken straps wrapped all around the driveshaft hehehehe .The weakest link in this scenario is the strap or rope , not the driveshaft . Sometimes it takes two ropes or two straps to get you out .
    The hard part is getting the strap off after :D
    Wouldnt want to use this method on a fiber composite driveshaft mind you .
    This procedure is used for the guy that gets stuck and has zero recovery gear and accidently gets stuck .This happens to people every day .
    With this said , I will be honest that I have never had to use this procedure myself but will admit that I do keep a 40 foot tow sling under my seat at all times and wouldnt be afraid to use the procedure on a Tacoma .
