I’ve recently given some Lov to my 2000 Taco 4x4 2.7cyl. Now needing wheels and tires. Would like some increase in height and primarily this is road driven, also prefer a stance that is not straight up so probably some kind of offset? The 4x4 has locking hubs on front. Current 15” factory wheels. I’ve installed a new set of full OME leafs and 5100 Billstein all around with OME springs. It’s approximately 3” lift all around. Thanks for sharing expertise or what you’ve done on 1st Gen. Pics would be great with details so I have an idea.

Any pic of what this might look like on a 1st Gen? Any specifics on wheel type recommendation that would give an offset? Also specific tire brand etc? Moving from 15 to 16 does it provide any actual increase in height? I had heard from others that likely a 17” better setup here. Thanks for taking the time.

That is a nice truck, Id like to have one like it, especially if manual.
Dont get to crazy here though, stick with a stock wheel 16/17” wheel from later year or keep those and go just a size up 2657516/close equivalent

probably underpowered anyway, wouldn’t go over 32 with the 2.7 and you don’t want to be slinging road debris on your driver all up the sides, rocks chipping the paint and constantly muddy (looks like you care about looks)
3” lift is going to wear your suspension/cv’s quicker and is considered a “max” for these without UCA’s.

IMO any 33x12.5 or equivalent tire and a 16" wheel is the best look for these trucks. A 16" wheel won't interfere with your brake calipers and 33's fit good without much cutting or tubbing.

Thanks to all for the input. I learned through this Tacos come in many flavors. Mine as much as I’dike to be an off roader is primarily road driven, a vehicle I can drive and remember talks with Dad and something I want to be proud of driving around town, to church etc. So, took the advice on staying inside wheel wail and keeping size so not to make the 4cyl sluggish. Lastly, went with a clean Toyota wheel to match the paint and not veer to far from the classic Look. End of day here she is. 265/70/17, 2021 4Runner wheels. Added 1.5” so total sitting 4.5” higher than original equipment. 150k on her. So will see if can go another 150. Thanks all.
