Yeah I think its a definitely leak. Smells like gear oil to me. Found some sort of vent hose coming off the top of the tranny that was cracked. I fixed that and I'm gonna keep an eye on the shifter gaskets. The tech didn't seem too concerned about it. I'll keep an eye on it for sure though.

    I appreciate everyone's help.

Looks like grease from the drive shaft u joints. Maybe someone over greased them and due to the high rotation speed of the shaft caused the grease to sling out.

This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. I over greased mine a while back and it looked similar. It looks to be the consistency of a thicker grease for the drive shaft u joints or cv boots joints not motor or transmission oil.

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
You need to find the front, or leading edge of the leak. Airflow under the truck will make it look like
the leak is from a skid plate as an example.
Take it to the car wash and pressure wash the lower sides of the block on both sides, water pump area, & under the front pulley, transmission, and transfer case. Check your fluid levels.
Drive it as normal but keep an eye on it.

If it was slinging from the u-joints or drive shaft you should see it above the driveshaft on the underside of the cab too.

I was gunna say its rear main seal but looks like grease in the pics.

You said u had it like this for about a year........my bets on rear mail seal.

Manual trans dont get filled that high with that much oil to spew out of the tranny......unless the tranny was filled from the shifter....lol

Wash it down with degreaser and a power washer and re-inspect frequently. You can also remove your front driveshaft to rule out one variable that could be the case as others had pointed to the u Joint being a possibility. Since the driveshaft points up towards the transfer case from the engine and you said it smells like gear oil you can almost certainly rule out the engine seals. Here's a quick look at pulling the front driveshaft - just be sure to mark the orientation of how it meets up with the flanges - I didn't since I was replacing the front diff.

I'd only bother with pulling the driveshaft if you a. can't find the leak after cleaning and inspecting (you can check for a bad u joint at that point) or b. find it's coming from the u joint or transfer case and need to remove it anyway. Hopefully it's just a bad u joint - if it's the transfer case or trans that might end up being a major project and I would be concerned.
