So it's just happened a couple times to me when taking a right turn. I would turn and the tire would completely lock up and there would be a loud clunk. The tire remained locked up until I put the truck in reverse and drive a few feet and then took off again and it was fine.

I was just out testing the the truck to figure out the problem and after taking another mild right turn the truck started to lock up again and I could hear it trying to lock up but it never did.

I was thinking that this could be due to the 8"s of lift in the rear and the drive shaft is gapped out now more than normally where it slides into the front shaft. I was thinking that when turning the trucks driveshaft was pulling out and binding up on the yokes slip gears. But I got to thinking that if the drive shaft was binding up then both tires would lock up correct?

Also another thing has got me thinking... The ebrake cables are really tight and maybe the extra strain on the cables are causing it to lock up?

Anyways I just ordered a 1.25" driveshaft spacer to push the shaft further into the front shaft until I could get a custom shaft made.

Any help and input is appreciated!!!

    Hi,

Years ago, on a drum based brake system, I had the "bonded" friction material let go from the metal brake shoe. It would seize until you drove it backwards to get the material un jammed from the other shoe to drum space ... and do it again when driving forward.

I'd pull the wheel and check the pads/drum/shoe (depending what you have) and make sure the brake lining is still attached to the metal backings .... Also can get a good look see at everything else while it's off ....

    Good luck!

    Getting there...
Not an expert, but could it have something to do with your LSD? Looks like you have an 07 Sport which still had the mechanical LSD. Maybe something's going wrong with that?

Do you have I believe the VSC option? It could an electronic system kicking in. Read here on tw it happens sometimes on lifted trucks and the system has to be recalibrated. As for the driveshaft I don't see how that could make a difference. It's either in the splines or it pulls apart. If it pulls completely apart it falls to the ground and you stop moving.

I was thinkng the same thing about the splines either it's in or it's laying on the ground

Maybe it's on the verge of completely falling out and binding up
