Any one ever tried to install this thing themselves. I can't figure this out!
The taco short beds side wall is not straight from front to back. it jets out about a foot from the tail gate yet the side rail they send you with the tonneau cover is straight. There is no way to get this thing to seat tight to the side wall of the truck bed from front to back. I have an 08 and am wondering if the truck bed is configured differently than other models. Doesnt seem likely but I cannot see how this thing can work. I don't think Im a moron but am i missing something here? Any thoughts or help would greatly be appreciated.

have you actually put it on yet? I can see your reason for concern but mine seals tight in that area right out of the box. I may be mistaken but I think there was extra seal for that area.

    A few bolts are different.
Not sure that makes too much sense to me but the rails mount on the inside of the bed on the strait flat surface.

The bed rails roll to the top at a different angle for the last 6'' or so by the tailgate. Atleast thats what I think he is talking about. Of course reading it back that may not make sense either :D

O.K. I am a moron I was looking at this thing all wrong but found a close up picture on toyota nation of the rail installed. It still seems strange to me thought that the rail is up about an inch from the top of the back wall of the bed but this must be right. we shall see!

the access bed rails are side dependent to take care of that off-set. access instructions
Yes you are right it does look like the top sits down in there a little bit, but trust me it works.
