    Yeah, that makes sense.
Fairly amusing the cell phone powers the dash light on its own.

Have you checked the sensors under the hood? The one on the frame, drivers side is know to grow corrosion internally.

Try swapping that one with the 1998. If connections are the same, it will work.

It's not a $20 scanner. It's a $2000 OTC scanner. Most scanners will not clear airbag lights. They can read them but not erase.

You don't need any scanner to clear SRS codes. Once you have all connections correct, the ECU will turn off the light.

You just need to find out which one is not communicating with the ECU.

The only check the SRS ECU does is check for continuity when you start the truck. All connections and sensors good? No light is turned on.

Sorry youre right, it looked like an Android tablet you were using. Im used to the Snapon's that are Windows based.

Im going to see if i can unplug something to trigger this, or maybe plug by battery pack back into the cig lighter, lol, then see if my MT2500 can clear it. Ive been able to do this on BMW's and VW's with no problem.

Can this be a crash sensor? Truck we never crashed but the sensor could be damaged/unplugged.

That's what I told you earlier. The crash sensor can corrode internally. Try swapping the sensor with your other truck. If the other truck gets a light, you found your problem.

Follow the yellow wires. The SRS uses a bright, yellow shiething. Its the only system that uses that color.

Checked and everything seems to be intacted. Not sure what to do next. Really don't want to bring to dealer. Can a clock spring be bad and still have horn and cruise work?

Wow, once again you guys have come up with an answer to one of life's many problems. I had found out many years ago that if I left my phone plugged into the lighter outlet overnight, in the morning the phone would be dead. I have since tried not to leave it on the car charger after that. A week ago I left the phone in the wireless charging mount for a few hours, and when I started the truck, the SRS light was on. I disconnected the battery overnight but that didn't work. My ODB reader just reported a "B1100 Airbag Sensor" error, with no further details. I reset the code, and the light has not come back on. Happiness!!

Speaking of ODB readers, I have one that can read/reset ABS and SRS codes. I am currently in the Tampa area and was wondering how I should go about offering to help with reading those codes for others in the area. Is there a "Help offered" section of the forum?

    Thanks,
    Greg
