I'm being super indecisive on how I want to set up my bed to meet my needs best. I have a DCSB so space is at a premium and I want to make best use of it. The thing that keeps screwing up my plans is that I like to carry my dirt bike in the bed of my truck. I do have a trailer that I could use but it is so much more convenient to put it in the bed and I would like to retain that ability if possible. I also carry skis/snowboards, emergency supplies, mountain bikes, camping gear, and the occasional dog. It's snowy where I live so more covered storage is better.

My current setup is a plastic delta toolbox that I got for $20 off Craigslist with Pelican cases stored underneath. I've got the toolbox mounted securely and sealed up pretty well but it will only work for the winter when I'm not carrying my dirt bike.

I guess I'm just looking for suggestions or any ideas that I haven't thought of. Worst case scenario is I give up on trying to carry my dirt bike in the bed and just trailer it or look at a hitch mount but I don't know if I trust them.

Does anyone know if I would be able to load a motorcycle under a cab high bed cage? It would have to not have cross bars across the middle but I think it might clear the back crossbar.

I like the gullwing design on my toolbox. In a what would work perfect would be a toolbox like mine (of metal though) that continued to the bottom of the bed but was missing a little middle section so the tire could fit in there. As much as I have looked I can't really find anything.

I have a fork mount for my mountain bike so as long as there is somewhere to mount that I should be able to make it work.

Somewhere to carry skis or mount a ski rack would be great also but there are plenty of solutions to that. (roof rack)

Sorry for all of the questions but I'm kind of obsessing over this and just fishing for ideas. Thanks!

The bike might fit in the bed, but it would be a really pain to get it in there. You'd have to tilt it way over to get it under the rear crossbar. More trouble than it would be just to load it on a trailer.

Good idea, but I think it would need to be custom built. Two boxes joined by a piece of steel running across the front of the bed. Sounds like a reason to develop some fabrication skills or maybe hook up with a class and get the members to build it as a project.

I think that you're stuck with using the trailer for awhile, but good luck finding a solution. Be sure and post back; it's always interesting to see how problems get solved.

That's what I suspected. I might look into making something. I'll be sure to post pictures if something does get fabricated. Thanks.
