My son and I went out camping this weekend and a pack rat got in my engine one night and chewed the wiring into that connects my coolent sensor to the engine wiring loom. I called Toyota and they said they only sold the whole engine loom and it was 800 bucks. I rigged the wires together to get home so I can drive my truck. The wire clips into the coolent sensor and then goes about 6 inches and clips into the engine wiring loom. Any idea on how to get this replaced without buying the whole loom. If I go to a wrecking yard will any 2001 Toyota truck part work? Thanks Rick

Maybe I'm not understanding the damage from your description ...

Are you saying there's no way to securely solder a new length of wire into the existing coolant temp sensor line and be done with it?

EnolaGaia that is what I will probably do. I can't do that personally, so I thought I would just buy the part, now I see I can't buy the part I will look at someone soldering a wire in there.
98tacoma27 thanks for your reply also.
    Thanks Rick
