I've been trying to figure out this clank noise I get when I hit a dip or anything that compresses the shock. I'm running Bils 5100's with Eibach springs. I have removed the sway bar for now to try to isolate it. I just got done removing the LCA and greasing the hardware and inspecting the bushings. I have to say the bushings and hardware looked good. The weather and conditions here in Cali have been pretty dry to say the least and I have been in the water maybe two times briefly. While I had it apart I shook everything to see if anything was loose. Nothing? All seems tight and in good condition. The truck has 52k mi and about 48k on the 5100's.
EDIT - The problem was the shocks! It's fixed for now. see post #26

In the first video showing the shock it happens at 1:09, 1:37, 1:50 and 2:22.

In the next video it shows the drivers side LCA rear bushing. Take a look and see if that amount of movement normal late in the video. I only have a shot of that one because its the only one I question. The others looked very good. I still don't think the noise is happening at the LCA. Could it be from the shocks themselves?? Looking for expert analysis of at least someone who has a similar issue. 90% of the time it sounds like drivers side. Every now and then 10% - pass side?
The noise happens in this one at 0:58, 2:37 and 3:29.

IMO, your LCA bushing is moving too much. At the very end of the video I think you can see it move and hear it knock at the same time. You should position it perpendicular to the LCA cam bolt, right under the bushing so you can see if it moves front to back.

I was trying to figure out how to get the camera in that position. That will be a challenge. I did notice when the LCA is really moving around it when I'm turning hard going slow. I usually don't get the noise then? Also take a look again when I hit the big dips the LCA pretty much just rotates up and that's when I get the noise most often?? Its actually been doing it for quite some time. I had this setup for a couple of years before it started and to be honest it has hardly gotten worse since it started and the susp still feels good. I don't feel it in the steering or floor either  :frusty:
Thanks for the reply I need to figure this out.

I agree. Looks like too much moment. Bushing is shot or is loose in the LCA, but can't tell from the video due to angle.

The rubber LCA bushings move quite a bit. I think that's normal. Poly would be stiffer.

It sounds like a sway bar winding up or maybe the coil spring striking something on full compression.

Thanks I will try to get a better shot of the bushing this weekend. Also try torqueing to 110lbs as I heard that helps. This is just pissing me off  My 99 1st Gen (which was built in Japan - I think) I drove for 11 years and never had to F$@K with any of this S*^T. It was lifted also and I drove it the same way. Go ahead 1st Geners you can brag and I'll agree they were built sooo much better without a doubt. I could go on but I wont.

My truck recently was making almost the exact same sound. I put new tires on 2 weeks ago, and got it aligned the same day. A few days later my truck started making that sound when turning into and backing out of driveways where there was a transition from the street, then a few days later it started doing it in situations where there was a level change while turning. The parking garage at work made it super loud, sounded like my truck was falling apart.

Since I also wasn't 100% happy with the way the steering wheel was centered, I took it back to the alignment shop and the guy listened to it, drove the truck, and said he'd straighten the wheel up for me and look around for the noise.

He found that one of the right LCA cams had loosened up and was causing the off center steering, and the noise. Everything has been fine since.

Good to hear. I torqued them to 100lbs and was hoping that was it a long time ago. I'll be in there again Sat. Thanks

Truck should not be making the noise.... If your unable to find it, consider paying a shop to diagnose the problem.

I did this with Toyota one time to find a nasty creaking noise in the truck, it was driving me bananas and was causing me to hate my truck. It was still under warranty, but they found and eliminated the problem. And moreover, I made them disclose exactly what they did so I accumulated the knowledge of how to solve certain body creak noises.
