I am lost on this one. I think you may want to go visit the dealer and see if there is a software upgrade.
I wish I had something more to be able to help you with. Those apps should be there.

I bet you are right, they wont help. My was manufactured in July of 2015, not sure if that means anything? (Newer software?) I wish you luck, please let me know how you make out on this. I would like to know what the issue is with it.

miketyler, I just noticed something, my model # is 510079 and yours is 510080. I wonder what the difference would be there? Maybe nothing, but I thought I would mention it.

Both units came out of 2015 models but have 2014 DOM. It may not hurt to contact a dealer and maybe they can tell me whats missing. I would have thought all the Entune Premiums would have all apps but maybe there is some dealer-only provisioning that has to happen.

Is yours the premium? Mine is the plus. If you have the premium then you need the app on you phone for that. If you have android you can get it from the play store. It will use your phones data to get the apps and will update your head unit software also. You will need a Vin also. If you need a Vin I can send you one.

No, mine is the plus model, non NAV, non JBL. I think I have been intermixxing the terms but its simply the Entune Audio Plus model with the APPS button

I figured it out. I bought a second unit from a member here local to me and plugged it in a while ago and now have both Weather and Traffic. I don't have my time showing on the home screen but I am less worried about that.

So maybe some Tacos did ship with Entunes Plus units that had no GPS antenna and left the factory with base model software? Good to know for guys out there buying these units. Just because it has an APPS button doesn't mean its configured as a Plus model.

Yeah Toyota is kind of weird about these head units. I assumed when I got mine off eBay that I would be able to use the app for the phone with it, but no you have to have the premium unit for that. So yeah, "apps" is very decieving for those entune head units. Sucks that it's that way and we have to pay the price and do so much leg work to figure it all out. Took me a long time to figure out I needed a gps antenna before mine would let the weather and traffic work. Glad you had another one to put in and that worked. :)

Yeah, me too. Did you upgrade an early Tacoma like my 2007? I found that trimming the bezel instead of the dash was a much better option to get the Entunes radio bezel to snap into place. Was much easier doing it this way and retains the lip for the bezel to rest on. I did have to trim the two lowest guide tangs on either side in the dash opening as well. I added some stick-on felt since I lost four of the anti-squeak strips from the bezel trimming.

Original bezel on the left, trimmed bezel on the right

I just did an upgrade on my 2015 to the plus unit. Mine was a base model truck with the SR Package. I didn't have to do any trimming or anything just had to add the additional GPS antenna and the XM antenna. Pretty much plug and play. That is some nice handy work you've done there though. :)

I bet you are right on the Canadian thing. That makes sense to me. Well, hope we have helped others out here with the research.

The presence of the APPS button and GPS port makes me think it could be programmed for US use. I'll look into this but as it goes, its like a plus unit that's limited to the base model features.

Bump! I also retrofitted a 2014 non nav entune radio. Pressing apps button doesn't show the weather or traffic icons. So no point for me to add the GPS antenna? It will only enable those features if I have those icons under the app screen already? help!

hx989, In order to have those apps show up you at least need the Plus version of the radio. In a previous post in this thread miketyler found out that his model he had was a plus, but Canadian. You might want to check your model # as well to make sure.

My home screen says weather data not available so I'm confused as to what I have. Don't want to take it out now

The head units does get its weather data via an HD radio signal. Are you in an area that has HD radio stations? You will also need to have a GPS antenna or it will not set the time on the head unit and the traffic function will not work either.
