Hello All. I’m new to this site and been trying to research on fixes for my truck. It’s been a nightmare when you have a family and worry about your vehicle breaking down at night on the road. I own a 1st Gen double cab owner. Plugs , wires , and coil packs were recently changed. Check engine reads misfire in cylinder 5.
    Currents issues:
    1. drove a couple weeks ago noticed start to overheat. Was only 2 miles away from home rushed home and the temperature needle started leveling to the middle . Next morning check the coolant reserve and it was empty. Filled it up and continue to monitor.
    2. When driving on the freeway at 60mph the truck vibrates/shakes . Vibrations stops when I let go of the gas or if I go over 60mph.

Driver history: 2004-2020 I drove a 03 taco ext cab (early stress-free 20’s). During the pandemic I traded my ext cab for 02 double cab as my family growing and needed more leg space. Traded via private party. Horrible experience, will save for another day. Ever since I’ve traded for this truck seems like I’ve had issues after issues. One of the biggest regrets.

Any help with my issues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you taco family.

Maybe a stupid question but replace the radiator cap? I do see some coolant residue on the top of the radiator

On top as by the cap or top of the radiator, mine cracked right at the seam in The plastic part

Vibes can be a number of things, wheel balance, tire out of round/broken belt, ujoints, carrier bearing

Top of the radiator .. I saw some residue and thought maybe it could be a bad radiator cap that’s not holding pressure and possibly small leaks from there . Also, I think I do smell coolant from the hood after a drive , meaning when it’s parked after a drive .

Bought a new radiator cap that has the pressure release. Will try it out . Hope it’s a cheap fix for the coolant residue. Will still need to find a mechanic to do a Radiator leak down test and compression test. Still not sure about the vibes.
