    here's my descriptions on pings.

Ping, take a heavy ball pin hammer and smack an anvil with it. Thats a ping to me

Also a ping. when you're full throttle on a motorcycle and you hear a similar ping to hitting an anvil with a hammer. This is what im hoping youre talking about with your truck.

Knocking. knock on an anvil..... it's a very muffled ping. there ya go.

    either way though.

pinging. listen to the clicks from this engine.

    knocking

again this is what I think of when i hear pinging and knocking.

On that second one, I never would have guessed 'bad belt'. Sounded like a single valve tap to me.

well pinging is pinging you dont really have to hear it with your own ears, when your accelerating it sounds like you have marbles in you cylinders, I am wondering what makes you think its the maf sensor

yes the truck has pinging good old marbles in the cylinders sound not a rod knock, not valves or lifters, belts or bearings not a rattle nothing like that.

It was mostly TIC (tongue-in-cheek), having fun with Cali- and CodeSeven, but it did fix my pinging problem. Different engine, but there's still a possibility that it could fix it. I think it's worth a shot for $75, two screws and one connector if the OP has already tried a bunch of things.

yeah. his marbles came from a MAF reporting the wrong airflow, causing an ultra lean situation. lean situations in the cylinder cause higher temperatures. higher temperatures can ignite 87 octane fuel just by the cylinder wall temperature alone, without any spark.

I lost my marbles and they ended up in my cylinders.
