Help with P0500, wasn't combo meter

Truck is a 2014 SR5 DCSB 4x4 6spd with about 83k of lots of wheeling and I've done lots of work recently where I may have messed something up. I broke a rear axle shaft offroad due to a leak in my rear ARB locker and ended up replacing both rear axles with Nitro Chromoly and Timken bearings. ECGS checked diff under warranty and put in new seals. While waiting for parts I did all my oil changes, put on new Toytec 2.0 front coilovers & rear shocks, new upper (SPC) & lower (TRW) ball joints, and Whiteline LCA and Steering rack bushings, and cut out a rusted alignment cam & replaced all 4 with new OEM hardware and greased everything pretty good. Also had a new clutch put in at my friend's Toyota shop.

The issues started after going to Firestone for the 1st alignment. My alignment was way off after the wheeling trip and winching at an angle. Wheel was cocked way to the right when driving straight but no warning lights or codes. They were able to align it although I had a seized alignment cam, but after they did the zero point calibration, my VSC slip light comes on and I get the C1445 vehicle driven with steering angle sensor not initialized from ODBLink w/ Toyota addon. When I get on the highway and get over about 62mph, my speedo cuts out and drops to 0, Brake and ABS lights come on, odometer stops working, and the vehicle speed reading from ODBlink also drops to 0 but I still see all 4 wheel speeds. If I keep driving, CEL light comes on and I get the P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor code. I fixed the seized alignment cam & did the stearing rack & LCA bushings and went back for 2 more alignments since I have the lifetime, but am certain now the issue is electrical and not mechanical.

Using ODBLink, I can see all 4 wheel speed sensors working and do not see any short or or voltage errors in the data. Yaw rate & steering angle sensors appear to be working fine. Cruise control works up until I hit the highway and cause the speedo to drop off over 62, then it won't work. I'll clear the codes, do the zero point calibration with the check wire, and the issue keeps coming back. I started seeing new trouble codes for C1411/C1412 Rear Speed Sensor Performance so I pulled the rear ABS harness and checked it for continuity with a multi-meter while jiggling the wire and did not find an issue. When viewing the OBDLink live data, all 4 speed sensors appear to work normally.

Looking at the detailed ABS module data in ODBLink, I noticed that intermittently the stock ODB2 Vehicle Speed shows 0 but I still get Vehicle Speed Meter, Engine Vehicle Speed, ABS Vehicle Speed, and Cruise Control Variable Speed readings. If I go over 62 to cause the speedo to cutoff, all of these drop to 0 as well but I can still see wheel speeds.

After doing lots of research on here, the combo meter seemed a likely culprit for the P0500 code and I have had the speedo randomly not work sometimes in the past and my fuel gauge was acting up recently as well. Not going back to full after gassing up and then slowly coming up while driving. I ordered a replacement combo meter from Tanin Auto and waited 3 weeks, but was extremely frustrated when I put the new cluster in and the issue didn't go away. Can someone advise on where to check & troubleshoot the wiring for the speed sensor circuit before I spend anymore money throwing parts at it? Checked all fuses and didn't find any blown.

Another potentially related issue is my AC has acted up a few times recently as well where the fan works but no compressor or cold air. I'll feel the cold air sometimes when stopping and turning, so maybe have loose wiring somewhere?

Update: Also swapped rear & front speed sensors and check voltage at the plug for both rear sensors and voltage is ok and still get same codes on steering & rear wheel sensors.

I may be wrong, but I think the manual transmission trucks get the speed signal from the gear/sensor on the transmission. Have you checked it?

Have a look at post #10 and 12 here

Then see here for where it is

Here is a good link to diagnosing a similar problem.

I don’t have any diagnostic info for the speed sensor on the manual trucks.
Maybe some other member here will?
