After a spending a weekend driving on the beach, I did a little cleanup on my drive out and picked up some Mylar balloons someone left behind. My kids hung them out of my window for the 5 mile trek back to the entrance, and in that time they beat against my paint, leaving whatever coating / paint behind on my truck. I tried scraping it off with a fingernail, but it doesn't seem to want to come off. It's also on my window and the seal around my back glass. Any suggestions?

Would you be open to the idea of trying to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser?

I'd rather leave the Mylar debris. Tried that on my old Camry and the spot(s) where I lightly used it, looked like ass.

Clay bar or towel and wax after.

Oof, ok. Makes sense though, since the magic eraser is technically an abrasive.
You could always try one of those eraser wheels.
    EDIT: Or what he said^

Always start light and work up.
Spray detailer and a microfiber or clay bar would be my first step then maybe some bug & tar remover as an escalate option.
Follow up with a good wax when it is gone.

    Agreeing with others before me.

    1) Wash your truck with dawn dish soap (removes residual wax),

    2) clay bar (removes contaminants)

    3) put some carnauba wax (protects clear coat) on it.

    4) Polish (fixes swirls and light scratches) before applying wax if you feel you need to do some paint correction.

Good luck! The detailing side of this site is pretty good if you need to figure out what to buy.

    EDIT: spacing
